What is Summer Reading?

The Summer Reading Program is a drop-in activity designed to encourage children to read for fun during the summer. The theme for this year's program is "Make a Splash!" Check out the "recommended kids' BOOKS" link here or above for a list of relevant books for kids of all ages.

When does this all happen?

Summer Reading runs from June 14 to August 7.

How does it work?

Kids register for the summer-long program, check out books on their library card, and start reading! Track the number of books they have read, and kids earn prizes! Click on the "we challenge you to READ" link, here or above for more details.

Are there things to do as well?

Yes! We offer weekly events and activities designed to entertain and educate kids! All activities this year are related to our "Make a Splash" theme, which encourages kids to be bold and make a difference in the world. Most importantly, remember that READING IS ITS OWN REWARD!!
